报告人简介：
The bio/pharmaceutical sector is a dynamic and unique entity, rapidly moving towards highly automated and electronic environments in which the storage, management and use of complex information is essential for success. This sector is also undergoing disruptive transformation adapting to unmet medical needs, an ageing population, rising healthcare costs as well as the introduction of many new and life saving pharmaceutical products and biomedical technologies. The interdisciplinary Pharmaceutical Engineering (PharmE) program at The University of Michigan (UM) was one of the first such programs in US, we believe that such a program also needs to undergo a similar transformation in order to adapt to the current and future educational and training needs of this very important sector of our economy.
Dr. Wang with the help of like-minded colleagues from academia, industry and USFDA was instrumental in starting up the interdisciplinary graduate PharmE degree program since 2000. This lecture shall discuss the challenges and opportunities for this transformation in a constantly evolving global environment and how this can potentially be applied in China and elsewhere.
