Zhejiang University Innovative Institute of Basic Medical Sciences comes into operation

On May 20, the launching ceremony of the Zhejiang University Innovative Institute of Basic Medical Sciences and the 1st Hangzhou International Pharmaceutical Source Innovation Forum were held in Linping District, Hangzhou City. Cooperation agreements were also signed on the first batch of funded pharmaceutical translation projects.

The Institute is committed to building a world-class biomedical source innovation base and empowering biomedical and health industries in Linping District.

ZHOU Guohui, vice chairman of the CPPCC Provincial Committee, expressed his hope that the Institute will deepen cooperation with Linping District to make a myriad of crowning achievements in scientific innovation, thus setting a prime example in making concerted efforts to serve the healthcare industry in Zhejiang province.

ZHOU Tianhua, vice president of Zhejiang University, expected the Institute to improve the overall efficiency of the innovation chain and create momentum for the development of the healthcare industry, thereby making more immense contributions to the implementation of the Healthy China Initiative.

The Forum was divided into three sessions: Keynote Speeches and High-end Dialogues, Innovation Patterns and Paths in Biomedical Sources, and Technology-/ Platform-enabling Source Innovation. Present at the Forum online and offline were a galaxy of distinguished guests, including Prof. DENG Zixin, a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. LI Lanjuan, a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. SU Guohui, a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. ZHAN Qimin, a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. LUO Jianhong, and Prof. Robert S. Langer, David H. Koch (1962) Institute Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. They discussed the paths and methods of innovative translation and technological empowerment in new drug sources.
