From April 25 to 26, the 4th CCS Symposium on Polymer Crystallization Theory, Application and Characterization Technology was successfully held online. It was hosted by the Polymer Science Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society(CCS) and Zhejiang University (ZJU), it was also co-organized by ZJU’s College of Chemical and Biological Engineering (ZJU CBE) and the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering of ZJU. Affected by the epidemic situation, this seminar is conducted online, which is also an innovative exploration and experiment of the academic conference format.
The seminar was co-chaired by Prof. Hu Wenbing from Nanjing University, Prof. Li Liangbin from University of Science and Technology of China, and Prof. Yongfeng Men from the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The meeting attracted nearly 1000 teachers, students and enterprise representatives from 155 research institutes and 55 enterprises at home and abroad to register, and the actual number of participants was nearly 600.
At the opening ceremony of the seminar on April 25, Researcher Wang Dujin, Executive Deputy Director of the Polymer Science Committee of CCS and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a speech on behalf of the sponsor. During the speech, he expressed his congratulations on the convening of the seminar, highly appraised the importance of polymer crystallization research in the field of polymers, and fully affirmed the innovative academic conference format of this online seminar.
Prof. Xing Huabin, Dean of ZJU CBE, gave a speech on behalf of the undertaker. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to the chairman of the Polymer Science Committee and Conference of the Chinese Chemical Society for the strong support of this seminar, and introduced the development of the polymerization and polymer engineering direction of ZJU CBE to the participants.
The seminar lasted 2 days, and there were 17 invited reports, 27 oral reports and 73 posters, including academic reports from 9 foreign teachers and scholars. Based on the advantages of online conferences, the seminar also highlighted the cross-fusion of polymer crystallization and related fields. In addition to the traditional polymer crystallization field, the seminar also invited expert teachers in the fields of crystalline polymer self-assembly, crystalline shape memory materials, and processing of natural polymer materials to make academic reports, and invited enterprise experts to introduce the problem of polymer crystallization in development of new products.
In the poster wall of the seminar, an online personal meeting room was adopted, and 73 posters of the posters displayed the posters and discussed online. Based on results, production display of posters, the committee selected 15 outstanding posters, Xu Ruijie from Guangdong University of Technology, Guo Yaqian and He Yucheng from Nanjing University, Zhao Haoyuan from University of Science and Technology of China, Zhang Shujing from Tsinghua University, ZhouJian and He Peng Wenjun from Zhejiang University, Lou Yahui of Tianjin University, Le Yang of Fudan University, Yang Sheng of Sichuan University, Zhao Xintong and Liu Xiuru of Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Duanzijing and Zhang Qian of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Xin of Qingdao University of Science and Technology Rui won the Outstanding Poster Award.
The seminar closed successfully on the afternoon of April 26. At the closing ceremony, the conference co-chairman and Prof. Li Liangbin from the University of Science and Technology of China read out the poster list winners, presented the poster award winners online. Prof. Yongfeng Men made a concluding speech on behalf of the chairman of the conference and announced that the 5th CCS National Seminar on Polymer Crystallization Theory, Application and Characterization Technology will be held in 2021 in Changchun, hosted by the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The 4th National Seminar of CCS on Polymer Crystallization Theory, Application and Characterization Technology adopted an innovative form of online conferences, focusing on the theme of polymer crystallization theory, application and characterization technology, focusing on polymer crystallization and related fields The latest research progress at home and abroad will promote the development of the field of polymer crystallization and the cross-fusion of polymer crystallization with related fields and the polymer industry.
