ZJU Hosts International Conference on Microstructure and Property of Materials

The 1st International Conference on Microstructure and Property of Materials (MPM) was hosted by the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Zhejiang University in Hangzhou from May 27 to 30. ZHANG Ze, Director of ZJU’s Academic Committee and HAN Gaorong, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, co-chaired the conference.

The conference invited 53 foreign scholars from the United States, Germany, France, Japan, Australia, the Netherlands, Singapore, Korea and Malaysia, 1 from Hong Kong and 1 from Taiwan. Also present at the conference were 345 scholars from domestic academic institutes, including Zhejiang University, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Sun Yat-sen University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It received 115-strong abstracts of conference papers.

It consisted of five subjects, namely, Electron Microscopy, Battery Materials, Thermoelectric Materials, Biomaterials and MOFs Materials. SONG Yonghua, Executive Vice President of ZJU, ZHANG Ze, Director of ZJU’s Academic Committee, GAO Ruiping, Vice Director of the National Natural Science Fund Committee and HAN Gaorong, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of ZJU, delivered keynote speeches.

It boosted ZJU’s research in the fields of electron microscopy, materials and other related disciplines and produced beneficial impacts on talent cultivation and connections with universities both at home and abroad. Meanwhile, this high-caliber conference, largely committed to fundamental and applied research, greatly facilitated ZJU’s sustainable development in relevant domains.
