The 3rd National Awards for Self-made Experimental Instruments and Equipment was jointly hosted by the Secretariat of the China Association of Higher Education, the Advisory Committee of Lab Construction in Institutions of Higher Education from the Ministry of Education, the Advisory Committee of Experiment Teaching in Institutions of Higher Education from the Ministry of Education, the Consortium of State-level Experiment Teaching Model Centers, and the Lab Administrative Center of the China Association of Higher Education in Chengdu. A simulated GPS experimental device, designed by Chen Hongyu in the Department of Physics, won coveted first prize.
Among 652 items submitted from 143 universities and colleges, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University and Nanjing University, a total of 20 items were awarded with first prize.
