At 21:16 Beijing time yesterday, the carrier rocket loaded with Tiangong 1 unmanned space laboratory module blasted off from the launch pad. 9 minutes later, Tiangong 1 accurately entered its orbit. China has successfully launched her first space lab to orbit.

Professor Yan Gangfeng of College of Electrical Engineering has led his research team in the development of research on “simulation test platform based on system flight software”. The test platform substituted the bulky test equipment required for test of each individual unit and achieved the goal of real-time joint testing. Its first application has successfully ensured the launch of Tiangong 1 space lab. It’s designed to evaluate controller performance of special carrier rockets’ control system by simulating the timing signals of rocket systems other than the controller and monitoring the controller response. In a word, the platform offers “physical check-up” for rocket controllers.
