On May 11, the third “IBM -Zhejiang University Day” was held on Zijingang Campus. Distinguished engineer and CTO Fu Yuqin of IBM China Development Laboratory and professors of Zhejiang University introduced and exchanged ideas on “Cloud Computing and Data Management”. Senior vice president of IBM Steve Mills presented the latest developments to faculty and students at Zhejiang University.

Chancellor Jin Deshui met with Steve Mills and his party. Chancellor Jin stressed the significance of further cooperation between Zhejiang University and IBM, hoping that the educational programs cosponsored by the two sides can set models for university-enterprise joint talent training. He also expressed the expectation that IBM can provide more internship opportunities for students, especially international internship, and that more substantive cooperation in scientific research will follow up in the near future, especially in developments of leading technologies, such as cloud computing and service sciences.

Zhejiang University-IBM partnership began in 1995 when IBM China University Partnership Program was launched. An IBM Technology Center was set up at Zhejiang University in the same year. In June 2009, the first "IBM-Zhejiang University Day" was held in Beijing, signaling the establishment of strategic partnership between the two sides. Up to now, Department of Software and Services Engineering of College of Software Technology has turned out more than a hundred graduate students and won the Innovation Practice award at MoE-IBM UR Annual Conference for two consecutive years in 2010 and 2011.
