On the morning of June 2, the First Workshop on Interdisciplinary Applied and Computational Mathematics was held in Sir Run Run Shaw Building on Yuquan Campus. Hundreds of mathematicians around the world attended the 4-day workshop.
The workshop tends to offer a comfortable and spirited gathering at a small scale to promote exchange of ideas between colleagues in computation, analysis, modeling of emerging area of applied mathematics along with applications, and to explore future research directions.
On the opening ceremony, Center for Interdisciplinary Applied Mathematics was established. Professor Bao Gang assumes the office of Director. The Center will focus on interdisciplinary research on mathematic models, scientific computing, software development, algorithm innovation, data analysis and so on. The Center is going to set up a platform of personnel training for applied and computational mathematics and interdisciplinary research.
