On May 19, International Conference on Quantum Matter 2010 was held in Hangzhou. In the opening ceremony, Professor Frank Steglich, Max-Planck-Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids, presented the Letter of Appointment to Professor Yuan Huiqiu of Zhejiang University on behalf of President of Max Planck Society Professor Peter Gruss. This marks the begin of collaboration between the research team of Superconductivity in Zhejiang University and Max-Planck-Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids, Germany.

Max Planck Society is known as the “cradle of Nobel Laureates”. It has nurtured 32 Nobel Prize winners. With 80 affiliated research institutes, it has been regarded as one of the most advanced research society around the world. To enhance international cooperation, Max Planck Society cooperate with research institutes in other countries in the form of “Partnership Group”. Currently there are altogether 7 Partnership Groups of Max Planck Society in China.

The Max Planck Partnership Group at Zhejiang University is engaged in studies in non-centrosymmetric superconductors. Each year one or two outstanding graduate students will go to Germany to conduct relevant research in Max-Planck-Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids. Max Planck Society will provide some financial subsidies for research.
