Academician Kung Hsiang-fu is Appointed Chair Professor at Zhejiang University

On Apr. 27th, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences Kung Hsiang-fu of Chinese University of Hong Kong was appointed Chair Professor of Zhejiang University. After the appointment ceremony, Prof. Kung made an academic presentation entitled “Molecular Targets of Hepatoma by TCM”.

 

Dr. Kung graduated from National Chung Hsing University with a bachelor’s degree and obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Vanderbilt University. His postdoctoral work, which focused on the mechanisms of action of enzymes and coenzymes, bacterial genetics and membrane biochemistry, was done at NHLBI, NIH and Max-Planck Institute. He worked on the regulation of gene expression, interferons and ras oncogenes at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology. After that he was appointed the Director of Laboratory of Biochemistry and Physiology at National Institute of Health, USA, and later joined the Institute of Molecular Biology of University of Hong Kong. Since 2004, Prof. Kung has been the Director of State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Chinese University of Hong Kong.
