Two PhD Candidates at Zhejiang University Participated in Joint Harvard-Go8-C9 Symposium

From Mar. 3rd to 5th, PhD candidates from Chinese, Australian and American universities attended the Joint Harvard-Go8-C9 symposium on "Climate: (science + humanities perspectives)". A total of 45 leading students from these three countries participated in the symposium. Two PhD candidates from Zhejiang University, Zhang yanjun from School of Education and Wang Hui from School of Biosystem Engineering and Food Science, made presentations in the symposium.

 

The unique conference aims to highlight research work that displays genuine disciplinary crossover. PhD student, both in Science and Humanities/Social Science, exchanged their research ideas, crossing disciplines, cultures, and continents. They addressed the global issue of climate change from three very different national bases and across disciplines as well.

 

Wang Hui made a report on the topic "Sustainable Utilization of Bamboo Forests to Contribute Abatement of Greenhouse Effect and Petroleum Crisis in China", while Zhang yanjun's report is about "The Experience and Development Strategy of a Country Changing from a Populous Nation to a Powerful Nation with Strong Human Resources——China's Way in Improving the Quality of Its Population Through Education Innovation".
