This Lab is one of the key laboratories sponsored by the World Bank loan scheme of senior faculty development. The main research and development areas are sensors and measurement technologies on biomedical engineering. The Lab develops sensor and measurement technologies on agriculture and other relevant areas as well.

 Main Research Fields
1. Noninvasive and biomedical sensors and measurement techniques Based on microelectronic technology, solid-state microsensors with novel functional material and measurement systems are researched and developed. At same time, signal processing technology based on microcomputer is studied so that the characteristics of the sensor system are improved to be intelligent. The aim of the Lab is to develop micro integrated multi-parameter integrated sensors.
2. Ultramicrosensors for cell physiological research Microsensors for physiological parameter measurement of living cell are studied. The tips of the microelectrodes are in dimension of tenth micrometer which can be used to realize extra high spatio-temporary resolution.

 Current researches are mainly biochemical and gas sensors, such as ultramicroelectrodes for cell physiology, recessed micro sensor array for dissolved oxygen, SAW gas sensors, artificial olfactory systems, SPR sensors, noninvasive heart sound diagnosis system.
