The state key laboratory of industrial control technology was founded relying on the department of control science and engineering in ZJU. It was first approved its construction by the National Development and Reform Commission back in 1989. In September 1995, the state key laboratory passed the commission’s acceptance and officially opened to the public.
To fulfill the major demands of the national economy, the state key laboratory of industrial control technology has conducted fundamental and applied research on the following four areas, including control theories, automation instrumentation and systems, systems engineering and optimization, and robotics technology. Key technologies have been developed in those areas. Innovational breakthroughs and accomplishments have been made in the development of international standards, the development of the complete sets of major equipments, and the tackling of a number of critical key technological problems. Over 20 Scientific Technology Progress Awards have been awarded to the laboratory in both national and provincial level.
The laboratory also carries on many world-class international collaborations and communications. International conferences and academic seminars are held here. World-leading professors and experts are invited to visit and work in this laboratory. All those academic activities make the key laboratory a combination of academic excellence, entrepreneurial energy and broad access.
