摘要
Hot gas (more than 1 million degrees) plays a vital role in shaping galaxy formation and evolution. However, even though we live in a disk galaxy, we know very little about the distribution of the hot gas, and how it impacts disk galaxy evolution via the so-called “circumgalactic medium”. In this talk, I will discuss several outstanding questions in this field, including problems such as the “missing galactic baryons” and “missing stellar feedback”, and related research activities in our group. I will also discuss in general how addressing these questions can help understand the baryonic matter distribution in the universe.
报告人简介
方陶陶，厦门大学物理科学与技术学院院长，天文学系主任，“闽江学者”特聘教授。国家自然科学基金委杰出青年基金获得者，当选科技部中青年科技创新领军人才，国家万人计划-科技创新领军人才，现任中国天文学会第十四届理事会常务理事，兼任国际三十米望远镜科学委员会中方主席，中国科学院天文大科学研究中心科学技术委员会委员。武汉大学学士，中国科技大学硕士，美国麻省理工学院博士。随后在美国卡内基梅隆大学以及加州大学伯克利分校从事博士后研究；2003年美国国家宇航局 Chandra Fellow。2006-2011年在美国加州大学欧文分校任研究员。主要研究领域为星系的形成和演化，河外天文观测，宇宙大尺度结构。在国际高水平期刊Nature、ApJ等发表学术论文50余篇，引用2000多次。
