Dr. Dan Chen is Assistant Professor of Political Science and Asian Studies at Elizabethtown College. She received her PhD in Political Science from the University of Kansas in 2014, MA in political science from Marquette University in 2010, and BA in International Politics from the University of International Relations in Beijing in 2008. Her research focuses on media politics, public opinion, and authoritarian politics in China. Currently she uses survey experiments and ethnographic fieldwork to understand the political origin and consequence of propaganda news and media criticism. Some of her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Political Research Quarterly, The China Quarterly, Journal of East Asian Studies, Modern China, and edited volumes.
