报告简介:

Short-range radar sensors are capable of remotely detecting the precise movements of the subjects and wirelessly estimating the distance from the sensor to the subject. They find wide applications such as noncontact vital sign detection of heart beat and respiration, sleep monitoring, occupancy sensing, and gesture sensing, just to name a few. In recent years, short-range radar sensors are attracting increasing interest and efforts from both academia and industry due to their vast applications. While Doppler radar has high accuracy in estimating relative motions, it lacks the ranging capability. Frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar, on the other hand, is a more generic radar approach that is capable of both ranging and detecting relative motions. By leveraging the 2D range-Doppler map, rich micro Doppler features as well as range information can be obtained to be combined with the advanced signal processing pipelines to realize applications such as sensing the action gestures. We will discuss the recent advancements in radar sensors for healthcare and other emerging applications, including system hardware improvement, digital signal processing, and chip integration. Particularly, we will discuss the status and trend of using radar for gesture sensing for human-computer interaction (HCI).
